ADHD / ADD Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Attention Deficit Disorder

ADHDAwarenessMonth-october

We understand that it is more than not being able to pay attention or keep calm!

Attention and hyperactivity disorders effects people of all ages. Adults can be more difficult to pinpoint, for instance it is easy for adults to attribute their symptoms to stress or lack of sleep while simply writing them off as personality traits. With a clear diagnosis and the right combination of treatment, we can help you move beyond the frequent frustrations or limitations that may be caused by adult ADHD/ADD. Our expertise in psychotherapy, pharmacology, and Neurofeedback enables us to lend comprehensive support to ADD and ADHD patients, regardless of their level of need.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, clinical research demonstrates that Neurofeedback is very effective for children and adolescents with ADHD.  This is very exciting for adults and children with adverse effects to medication.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report “About half of preschoolers with ADHD were taking medication for ADHD”.  This is the first time in history we have this many children on medications and the number is increasing.

ADD and/or ADHD makes it extremely difficult to focus and concentrate because there are deficiencies in attention and motor activity in the brain. Studies show that children with ADD lack self-confidence, high rates of anxiety, and more fidgety.  People with ADHD have a very difficult time starting tasks and completing them.  As a result of inability to concentrate, people have many more challenges that those who do not have this condition.

In short, Neurofeedback not only increases mental performance; but also, improves social skills.  Most importantly, studies indicate those benefits are sustained years after treatment.
